THE G-SERIES MARINE DIVISION

The G-series table of organization was based on lessons learned in the Central Pacific campaigns of 1944. It was officially implemented throught the Fleet Marine Force in September 1945. But the 1st, 2nd, and 6th Marine Divisions adopted it during January 1945 and deployed for the Okinawa campaign under the G-series configuration. . The G-100 Marine division was a powerfully armed and flexible combat force that would have been tested by all Marine divisions in the planned invasion of Japan.
